Super 80's

Some days Clifford has super 80's big hair.
And sometimes, that hair matches his super 80's gown.

He pretty much rocks the look.

And the playmat rocks his world.

If you're keepin track, that's 80's hair, 80's shirt, and a rockin' playmat.

First Bath

This post is a little belated.  Well, like 2 or 3 weeks to late.
Cliff seemed to have an umbilical cord that would NOT fall off.
Took forever.
The whole time it was attached, we bathed him in the guest bathroom sink.  It was a bit hard because he is giant.  After the first week he really didn't fit well.  I was just waiting for that darned ol cord.

After the sink, Cliff upgraded.
Maggie's sister-in-law Tiffany let me borrow her whale tub, since the baby bath thing I bought would require a ridiculous amount of water to keep him warm and remotely covered.
He loves it.

And his daddy does a good job of cleanin him up.

I think bath time is the favorite time of day for both of my men.

My goodness...

I just love them both so bad.

30th brthday

Tuesday, the 9th, was Zac's 30th birthday.  Neither of us can even believe it.  How in the world is Zac 30?!
Which begs the question, when did my husband get old?
Does that mean I'm getting old?
Is 30 really the new 20?
Let us all hope so.

Time is really flying by.
This is Zac's 6th birthday that he's had me to buy him gifts.
This year, not so surprizingly, he wanted electronics.
More specifically, he wanted money to build a computer to act as our media server now and in the future.
"Media" may be Zac's first love.
Well, second now that Cliff is here, but it is his biggest passion for sure.
Zac's 30th birthday also fell on the same day as Cliffy turning 1 whole month old.
As I mentioned, time is flying!

We decided to get a picture of the two of them together.
It went poorly.

Thank goodness we are not quitters.
Cliff might be though....
Thank goodness he has his daddy to soothe him.

Well, kind of.

As I mentioned...Zac needed a little celebrating.
Of course, Cliff is here, so he needs a card from us both.
Plus, a card gave me opportunity for my sneeky plan.
First, I had to find a card.

Then, I waited til Itty Bitty fell asleep, painted his hand, and signed his daddy's card.
Next...the sneeky business.

Cliff seemed to have his umbilical cord forever.
For. Ev. Er.
Seriously, like 3 and a half weeks.
The entire time it grossed Zac out.  He would yell at me when I cleaned around it, constantly insisting that I was hurting him, when he was clearly fine.
We were both thrilled when his cord finally fell of.
It happened to fall off in the middle of the night and I had to fish it out of his sleeper.
I just sat it on the changing table.

And, that's where it continued to sit.
See, gross.
Neither of us wanted to touch it again.  We were at a stalemate.
Who was gonna cave first and throw it away....then I hatched a plot.

And Cliff officially had a "present" to give his daddy.

Hahahaha, gross.
And that was pretty much Zac's reaction too.

"Is that Cliff's cord. Ew. I'm gonna throw it away."

Sorry cord.  You were icky.
Happy birthday honey!
Cracked me up.

That evening we went out for a super classy dinner at Buffalo Wild Wings.
It is not a real celebration if you don't have to use the extra straw on the table to clean your teeth.
Yep. Thanks husband for that move.  Sexy.

On the way there Zac realized it was cheap wings night.  He was thrilled, then a bit disappointed.
He said he hoped he could eat all that he planned to, since lunch had left him uncomfortably full.
He said "Seriously, I didn't stop being uncomfortable until about the time we left the house." (which was about 6:30)  And followed up with, "I went out to lunch for my birthday today.  It was half price taco day.  I ate 4 mini-burritos, 2 tacos, and a quesadilla."  Then I snort laughed.
He is ridiculous.  And apparently has a hollow leg.

Thank goodness for my ridiculous husband.
My ridiculous, 30 year old husband.
Happy birthday Zac.
You are loved.

One month old!

Last Friday Cliff had his one month visit with his pediatrician.
This was, of course, 3 weeks since his previous visit.
He was not quite 1 month, but rather 26 days old.
This is his 26 days picture.

He hates his pacifier.

And quickly spits it out to return to screamin when he is not happy.
Oh, poor Cliff!

Luckily Dad rocks and shortly Cliff was open mouth sleeping.

We tried to take a family picture to commemorate Fordy Stu's one month well-baby visit, and failed.

Twice.

Oh well.
Clifford is growing like a weed.  Dr. H is thrilled with him, and can't get over his hair.
And for those of you keeping up with his stats, Cliff is huge.
Seriously.
In the 3 weeks since his last visit, Cliff's head grew 3/4 of an inch (99th %tile), gained 2 whole pounds (now 12lbs 4oz, 97th %tile) and grew an inch and a half in length (98th %tile).

What can I say, my baby is a bit of a hog...and apparently I make buttermilk.
Keep up the good work Cliffy!

Gentleman

Every so often, Cliff gets tired of his crazy hair, so we wet it all down, and comb it nicely to the side.

He wants everyone to know he's not just a bad boy.
He can also be quite the gentleman.

My big distraction

Cliffy is a big distraction.
Big.

In the morning, we usually get up at 8:30ish.  This is after getting up at 11, 1, 3, 5, and 7.
By 8:30 or 8:45ish, the fat man is ready to eat again.
I usually am ready to eat myself....but he comes first.
Unfortunately, Cliff is narcoleptic when he eats.  It's very common for him to nurse 15 minutes, pass out, then I lay him down and get into a different project, then he is screamin' to eat again, and I have to drop whatever I am doing.

Case in point, breakfast.

I burnt 4 of them.
Damn.

Waffle fail.
At least one of us is well fed.

Hello

Cliff says hi.

He is concerned that you've been missing him.

He has been worried.

Even if his face is calm and peaceful...

his frantic hands give him away...

Gettin' "justed"

People are always shocked when I say I adjust babies.
They almost always ask why, and say they can't imagine that an infant would need it.
They also can't imagine handing over their precious newborns for what must surely be some sort of violent neck-jerking, stroke-inducing procedure.
But babies need worked on.
They do.

Just remember what I looked like at the end of my pregnancy...
Me at 9 months

Me on my due date

In that month, I definitely got bigger, as did Cliff.
He was jammed up to say the least.  I couldn't breathe, sleep, roll over, squat, bend forward, get off the couch...you get the picture.  Most of my "disability" was because everytime I moved, I physically ran into the baby inside my abdomen.  As you will recall, he was 10lbs 14 oz and 22 inches long when he got here.  That takes up a considerable amount of space.  And while Cliffy B was a dancing machine, there was nary an inch to really stretch out or do back flips.

From 32 weeks on, he stayed with his head down and his butt up in my ribs, with his back along my left hand side.  He spent a full 10 weeks in that position alone.  10 whole weeks, 24 hours a day.
Imagine you doing such a thing.
So I was not so shocked to see that baby likes to sleep with his neck crooked to the side.  Not at all.
Now I have to correct it.

This was not his first adjustment.  He got his first adjustment the day he was born...to make sure he was pooping.  Poops get rid of the yuck...the yuck makes babies jaundice.  At the hospital they want babies bilirubin count to be below 10 before they get to go home....Cliff's was a super pooper.  His count was at a 1.
What up Chiropractic care?!

This is what it looks like...

It is gentle.

Cliff slept right through it.

I call it an adjustment.
Caroline calls it, "gettin justed"

As he gets bigger, he will start to ask, like all the bigger kids do.
I wish all of you, and your babies, were closer.
Then you could all get justed.

Paulie C

Every night my baby gets a bath.  Currently he is bathed in the guest room sink...which he has just about out grown already.  At the end of his bath, we usually have one really irritated babe, with beautiful curly hair.  It is adorable.  As it dries, it sticks up, straight up.
It cannot be controlled.

The other night, we tried an experiment.
What would happen if we combed his hair?

Which quickly turned into this.

A screaming fit from Cliff

As Zac and I laughed

Because our baby puts Paulie D's blow out to shame.

We loved how as it dried,

It looked more and more like Christopher Walkins' hair.

Oh Cliff.  You are so hilariously perfect.
