I did it.

Forever ago I decided that I was going to train for a 5K.  It seemed ridiculous, it was a little bit.  But I did it.  I ran 3-4 times each week on a 2 and 1/2 mile loop from my little trailer, back to my little trailer.  I was hoping that in two months I'd look like this.

All slim and trim, but I'm afraid that was unrealistic.  Instead I settled for unflattering horizontal stripes.  Hooray for afterthoughts!  Anyway, this is me and Courtney right before our run.
I did pretty bad really.  It was blazing hot out, shoulda figured that when I signed up for a July 24th race,   otherwise I have no real excuse.  I did finish it and at my next 5K two weeks later, I took 1min/mile off my time on a much harder course.  So that's been it for now.  Two 5K's and two t-shirts.  I am still running but I'm down to once or twice a week.  Gotta step it up again before our trip to Florida.  The countdown is on!

Back by popular demand....

As many of you probably didn't notice all that much...I stopped blogging.  Completely and unceremoniously.  My step out of the limelight was primarily motivated by my laziness and distinct vanity. You see...18 followers was simply not enough.  Especially when a majority of those 18 were my mom, my sisters and a cousin, whom I talk to on a regular basis  But, I came to work today and decided to immediately take a break from working to read my email.  I was bombarded by the following:

From Mom: Abbie,
Please blog -I miss my daily dose of wit from you. Topics... Maggie, Annie, Troy and our pranks against him, Courtney and her antics, Zac's wisdoms, funny patients etc. I miss Little Trailer  I think you moved to the big one and got all cocky and conceited... too good for the Little Trailer blog, eh?

Then Annie: (email #1) I once knew a girl who wrote blogs.  She was funny & stupid in a good way.  She wrote about her life & a tiny trailer.  Then, she moved to a big trailer & forgot she lived in a trailer at all.  I miss that girl.

Then Mom's (well, everyone's) Friend Jamie:

Dear Dr Abbie,
I hadn't heard from you in a while, and had a curious hankering to know what the carp was up in your life, if Zachmeister had said anything funny lately, maybe you'd travelled to some neat places/eaten some great food or if any other patients had shown you their privates (or privacy as my neice Kynlee would like it to be called).  Your mama had mentioned to me that you had a lovely little blog, something about little trailers and big people, so I found it & tried to nail down how you'd been rolling lately.  To my shock and dismay it doesn't seem you've updated your blog in oh so long, like pathetically since July, so I just had to express how furious with disappointment I was to your mother.  She informed me that since moving to the palatial new mobile existence you've had trouble with the inflated size of your head and think you are way to important to do something as menial as blog for your ever adoring public.
All I can say to that is, so so suck my toe all the way to Mexico.  Oh, and I will cut a bitch.
Adoringly,
M.Jamie Heiserman, esquire.

Then Annie again:

I once knew a girl who wrote blogs,
She also painted naked on logs.

She lives in a trailer,
And can run a straw baler.

The blogs are no more,
She pops backs for the sore.

I wish she’d come back,
I want to hear more about Zac.

So...as you see, I'm simply too popular to stop.  I have been missed.  My ego has been stroked (that's what she said).  And I'm back to blogging, at least, temporarily.

Another prayer request

First, the good news, Kendal has officially returned home to finish the rest of his healing with family.  He has done exceptionally well.  You may remember that initially doctors thought he would lose his right leg and half of his face.  None of that has been the case.  His plastic surgeons repaired his face and have only a few revisions left.  His skin and bone grafts are healing as well as can be expected and he is able to move himself in a wheelchair now until the graft in his foot gets stronger.  He and his family have been so blessed and his spiritis are high.  Thanks to everyone for your prayers for Kendal!

Now, on to the bad news and new prayer request.  Please say prayers for the Bertolino family of Pana.  They lost their 15 month old granddaughter yesterday.  She was playing outside and fell into a well.  They found her but were unable to revive her.  Their son's family is expecting another child in September of this year, which will undoubtedly be very difficult as he and his wife try to heal from this loss.  Thank you to everyone for your prayers.

Freakin excited!

Tomorrow my college roommate Chelsea and her husband Andy are coming into town for a visit.  I saw them in March when I drove down and helped them get settled into a new house.  Before that, I think it had been like 2 years.  Ridiculous.  We have no big plans for tomorrow since they won't get to town until 7.  Probably dinner and lots of chit chat.  Saturday however, is gonna be pretty sweet.  I scheduled massages for Chelsea and I around noon and then we rented a boat from 2-7.  I've not been on a boat in years and I can't wait! Get excited for the pictures and I will get excited about wearing a straw hat so as not to third degree burn my nose :)

The boss cow

Zac and are spending the morning cleaning.  He's been uncharacteristically good spirited about it.  Hasn't complained once, and I haven't had to ask him to do anything.  He does, however, get a little bossy.  In fact, as I was dusting he came in the office to tell me "hey, you have 3 pairs too many of shoes by the door.  You need to put some away. You have 5 pairs, that's 10 shoes."  This made me laugh, as most things he says usually do.  I asked him if he could do the math on that one again for me as I'm always a fan of fast math skills.  He told me "no, I'm too busy for that."  Ahhh Zac.  It's so nice to have him home, even if he thinks it means he gets to be the "boss cow."  (that's another Stu Fox original for ya and just so ya know, I definately prefer to be the boss cow)

Fearless Flirt

You all know by now that my husband says ridiculous things and they crack me up.  Oddly enough, I'm ususally surprised by it, as was the case the other day at Wal-Mart.  He was running in to get a deli sandwich and I waited in the car since I like to people watch and was looking quite sweaty that evening after Third Sunday Market.  While I waited, I spotted a big ol' chevy pick-up hanging out and across the rear window of the very masculine truck was a big scrolly font decal that said FEARLESS FLIRT.  This made me laugh.  I think window decals which proclaim something about you are stupid.  So, sorry if you are a BIG DAWG, or like to COONHUNT BLUETICKS (and Chris, I know you love those dogs with your whole heart), but I think your car looks silly.  I do, however, like the "My family" dceals.  (I know, double standard but whatever).  I waited until Zac came out to the car and asked him if he'd seen the truck, which, of course, he hadn't noticed.  I told him it was a big man truck with a big girly decal.  I told him what it said to which he replied "FEARLESS FLIRT huh?  Ya know what that means, should be more like RAUNCHY WHORE."  Ahahahah  he just kills me with the things he says!  I think about it everytime I drive by Wal-Mart now and it still cracks me up.  Oh my dear husband, callin' it like it (probably) is.

51 and still young!

Can you even believe it!?   Stuey is officially 51 years today and it's just unbelieveable to me.  Just wanted to say happy birthday to the best dad I could have ever asked for.  So, here's to my daddio, a hard workin man
that never misses an opportunity to snuggle a baby

that always takes part in the VESTivities
that calls his tape measure a ruler
You make me proud everyday and I am so fortunate that you take the time that you do to help us, to teach us and to love us.  Happy birthday dad!
