Sneak Peak

As you all know, I've been working like crazy to get this trailer done.  Most days I get home at 5:30 or 6:30, change, head to the trailer then work til 9:30 or 10:30. Zac and I took Monday off two weeks ago to work a full day and since then, we haven't missed a day.  We are tired, but, on the up and up, we are making progress, lots of progress.  We are texturizing the walls in the master and bathroom tonight, painting tomorrow, laying floors this weekend, then it's little stuff from there.  We should be moving in next weekend!  Without futher ado...your sneak peak.

This is the office when I started

Notice the holes in the wall, the blue carpet, and the little strips that hide where one piece of drywall meets the other.
Unlike almost every other room, this one had a door that wasn't broken. (I had to throw out the closet door)

We ripped out the bad drywall, pulled down all the strips, removed the bad carpet
Then we replaced all the outlets, the light fixtures, the drywall and repaired the floor vents.  We texturized the walls, painted, put in new carpet and pad and then did base boards.  Here is the finished room...well, part of it.  This

The house is coming along.  This is the transformation of just one room.  We have redone EVERY room.  I will post more after we finish it up and, of course, after we have moved in and decorated.

PS  If any of you would like to spend your Easter moving us, just let me know :)

Prayers

I wrote on my list of 101 in 1001 that I wanted to make sure I was added to Zac's health insurance in Feb.  We did.  I added myself online.  Then logged out, logged back in, and made sure all my changes were saved.  Every section said coverage was "You+1"  which is exactly what we needed.  Lo and behold, we get a letter which summarizes Zac's benefits and only Zac is covered.  We called his HR people and they said all we can do is appeal the process and hope that they approve me.  I'm filling out the forms now.  So, say prayers for me. Prayers that I'm not in any accidents and that they give me the health insurance I was entitled to starting June 6th of last year, but haven't had because of technicalities.

Sometimes you just have to shop

I have a dear, sweet patient named Ross.  He owns a little shop in a little town south of Pana called Ramsey, about 20 minutes away.  He always talks to me about the shop and what he has in it.  He told me he had paint ($6.50/gallon!) and furniture, my two favorite things.  I have a vision for my new trailer, so I went to look at what he's got.  Lo and behold....my finds
8 of these babies!
This is the most comfortable chair I've ever sat in
(I know it's not outstandingly cool, but it will be great when I'm done with it)
From the 1960 state fair, given as a prize, now my prize :)
A faboo yellow table

A dirty beat up tool box

And all kinds of storage solutions!

Just had to share my new stuff!

P.S. I skipped lunch today to do this because, like I said, sometimes a girl just has to shop!

Breaking

So....it may be a little while before I start posting again.  I have a very big, very messy trailer to finish then move into,  a label to develop and then make dozens of for my candles, many paintings (which I've not even started) to do for Ethel Edith, a presentation to finish for my talk on Wed night as well as about 450 households to call for work and then my regular job which I go to 6 days a week.  I'm busy.  Too busy for my blog.  Which is kinda like how Right Said Fred was too sexy for his shirt.  Anyway, forgive me and pray for me for a couple weeks (hopefully not that long) as I try my best to renovate, create, paint, clean, doctor and not yell at my husband for watching without helping, even though he is getting better about it.

A mini miracle

If you have a minute, and would like to make your day better, take a look at this link.

http://www.fox2now.com/news/ktvi-disabled-skier-hidden-valley-030110,0,1517859.story

This is the story of Willie "Wild Man."  I met him while I was an intern at Logan Chiropractic.  My professor/director of the Sports and Rehabilitation Center is named Laney Nelson.  He was made fun of a lot for his crazy ideas.  Sometime, rightly so, he is a little crazy.  But he also encouraged us to think outside of the box.

There was one day we had a MD come in that was born with numerous birth defects.  He was also wheelchair bound and at the end of his presentation, all Dr. Nelson could ask him about, instead of questions relevant to his talk, was about what his chair could do, and how he felt living in it each day.  He asked about his low back pain, his pain from the scoliosis he had developed while in the chair, etc.  At the end of it all, he told the doctor that he would like to modify his chair to eliminate his pain, and treat the scoliosis.  Something no one had thought to offer that MD before.  Since that day, I've never thought the same way about the disabled.  I always want to stop and ask those in a chair how their back is, offer to adjust them and change the cushions, etc.

Dr. Nelson did it again I'm afraid.  When I was at Logan I really wanted to help with the programs for the disabled.  There was a ski night for the blind, swimming lessons for those with Downs and all kinda things.  I couldn't help with skiing, because, well, at the time I'd never been and I just had to admit that I don't have that skill set.  I was there the day Willie came in to the rehab center and Dr. Nelson told him he was gonna get him skiing standing up.  Willie was SO excited.  I just can't believe he did it! It's awesome!  Check out the video and you'll see the contraption Dr. Nelson thougth up and Willie, skiing!!!

A good day

I woke up today in a happy mood.  Zac was still in bed with me and we both snoozed to be able to spoon in the morning.  You know you like a good 15 minute morning spoon too.  What's ridiculous is that our alarms are set opposite each other.  Zac's went off at 7:15, mine at 7:30, his at 7:40, then we just admitted that it was time to get up.  I got to give him a hug and kiss before he went to work.  Then I went to leave and it was BEAUTIFUL outside. Sunny and warm and I even left my coat inside!  I love those kinda mornings.  To top it all off, I had an iced tea and poptarts on my drive to work while listening to a cd called 90's rock which started out with Sublime and 311, then Eve 6.  Just try to be grumpy while listening to Sublime.  I dare you!  The best is yet to come though because the massage therapist in the office is gonna come in and give me a 30 minute massage today to help me fix my low back up.  I'm a little off since I scooted around patching the roof of the trailer for 3 hours in a cheerleader pose (the one where you sit with both knees facing the same direction, what's it called Annie, a double hook or cheer sit position? that's right, i know my cheer terminology) but I guess that's to be expected.  I'm just thrilled that spring may actually be here!  Its some much needed sunshine.  Plus, I planted seedlings last week to get them ready for my garden this summer.  Mom and Dad don't know it yet, but I'm planning a big ol garden at their house.  Yay!  So far I've started onion, brocolli, cauliflower, tomatos (roma and heirloom), jalapenos, bell peppers, and some flowers (asters, columbine, merigold, and cosmos)  I am PUMPED!  I love gardens.  Love them. Now I just have to get that stinkin (literally, it reaks of pee) trailer done so I can have the time to go plant my garden.  Hope you have a great day too! Enjoy this sunshine!

Loving my morning off

I generally work Monday through Saturday.  I have one Saturday off each month, and my Monday appointments don't start til 2.  This is the first Monday in the six months I've been in practice that I didn't get up early with something to do.  Well, I did kind of.  I woke up at a little after 8 and ate a banana and called Zac.  Then I realized I didn't wanna be awake yet.  Decision made, I went back and got into bed and slept til 10:15.  Haven't done that in years.  It was awesome.  I have a million things I need to do, as the trailer is not even close to finished, my candles have no labels, my house needs dusted, my sink needs cleaned, the laundry needs folded and I haven't finished my presentation for next Wednesday, but I think I'm just not gonna do it right now.  Not until this evening.  I think I will really, finally, just take my morning off, off.  What did you do your last day off?
