Liz's family

Awhile back I got a very encouraging email from a girl named Liz.  She raved about my paintings and then requested one for herself.  She said she was looking for positive stories for parents that get a Down Syndrome diagnosis (as she is an OB nurse) and found me through Annie's blog.  She fell in love with my paintings and when she decided to redecorate her living room, wanted to make a family portrait a part of the design.  I was flattered to have the opportunity and to see that my paintings are making people happy all the way in Oregon!

This a picture of Liz and her precious family.

Her two main men.

And Liz herself.

I had to laugh at Liz's description of her family.  Her husband is a total man's man and her son is a spiderman-loving crazy animal, which I expected.  But it was her description of herself.  Liz told me she never goes anywhere without her hair done and full make-up.  Her reason was that she is tall and her mom always told her that at 6 ft. tall, she "stuck out like a sore thumb" and WOULD be noticed.  Now if that's not sound reasoning, I don't know what is.

At nearly 5'10" myself, I could take a tip here.    Especially considering my propensity for leaving the house in yoga pants with my bangs pinned back, wearing an old t-shirt and no make-up.  I am pretty :)

Liz also asked me to do paintings of her two pooches.  They are clearly loved and just seeing such happy beasts makes me wish I had two myself.   They are Duke and Charlie.

The Duke

Charlie

Liz pretty much let me do what I wanted with these paintings.  Talk about faith in me!  This is how things turned out in the end.

Ha!  The dogs crack me up!  Especially the smirkiness of Charlie's dog mouth.

The hardest part of all of this, was finding a box to ship the painting...which I actually didn't do.  I had to build one out of 2 other boxes.  Let me tell ya friends, you would've been impressed with that.  I used an entire roll of packing tape.  I wish I had taken a picture of it.

UPS should be delivering the painting this week and I can't wait to get a message about it from her.  I hope she loves it even more in person!  Here's to a redecorated living room!

*Update
Just got this email from Liz today.  I am so thankful that my work is appreciated!

OMG!  Can I get a round of applause here?!  First of all, lets not forget to mention the packing?!  Damn girl-you gots skillllz (I think thats how you say it)? Do you know how long it took me and my Grandma to get into it?!  I was maybe a tad bit excited, so it seemed like it took an hour, but it was probably more like 3 minutes....I wanted to rip into it, but I didn't want to hurt them!  They arrived in perfect condition!  I cannot even tell you how much I love them.  Maybe because Im a girl and it's that time of the month, but they made me cry.  I hung them as soon as I got home, again, too excited to even worry about measuring or level nonsense......It makes me smile everytime I look at them, and be thankful that I have such an amazing family and life.  And.....drum roll.......my husband LOVES them also!  Everytime he walks in the room he says "well hello there good looking family"....makes Keller laugh....
Thank you again.....and then a million times more.  I am so happy and thankful to have such beautiful art painted by such an amazing person in my home.
