Pigs and Tigers

Found this online today.  It's pigs and tigers.  Sometimes it turns out that pigs take care of baby tigers and tigers take care of baby pigs AND they dress the pigs in little tiger costumes.  How do you not love it!

Tigers and Pigs

Go. Look.  You will smile and never regret it.

Youversion

Little known fact, when it comes to the Bible, I am ignorant.  Really.  I know very few stories, very few passages.  I find reading it to be dry and I really have to focus, read slowly, go back and re-read before any of it sticks with me.  Now this whole thing is odd because I honestly believe that you need a personal relationship with God and the best way is to know his word and the apply it practically to your life.  So I finally decided to do something about it.

I had a message in my facebook messages from Maggie's sister-in-law Tiffany from forever ago that recommended a site called youversion.  I hadn't paid much attention to be perfectly honest.  The other day, I decided it was time to look.  I wanted to do a Bible study.  My first official study.  Let me just say, youversion is awesome!

It has 7 full pages of reading plans.  It has chronological options, new and old testament reading plans.  It has so many topically studies I think would be absolutely great like studies on dealing with anger, love, marriage, learning to see Jesus, joy, obedience, forgiveness and even a plan that explains why you should read the bible and a whole study that explains who Jesus was and why he is so important.  There are 3 day, 5 day, 7 day, month and year long programs.  And a 21 day program for busy ladies.

I decided to start first with the Bible in 90 Days plan.  I think as I get more in the habit of reading regularly, then I can start adding in the short studies.  What I think is really great about this site, aside from the tons and tons of choices to get started, is the fact that you can change the type of bible you read.  I can switch back and forth between King James, NIV, the Message, etc. and find the type that helps to make things the most clear.  All the plans are availabe in TONS of languages too....so tell everyone ya know!  You can also have the daily readings sent to your cell phone or other devices, which eliminates some of the problems with convenience.  Basically what I'm saying is, this site is fantastic.  Best of all, its FREE!  Yay!  Bebop your way on over and get signed up.  Like we Fox girls say, for that price, you can't afford not to!  If this guy can do it, so can you!

Prayers for Ollie, Please Share!

If you follow my blog, you know that my darling niece has a heart defect that needs surgical repair.   After months of waiting, the surgery date is set for June 9th.  We would appreciate every prayer sent up for Baby Ollie, our family, and her caretakers in St. Louis.  Please feel free to steal, pring, share and post this like crazy on your blogs, twitter and facebook.  The more people that know, the better!  Thanks in advance and a special thank you to Jamie McDonald at Pix by Jme for the pictues and ability to capture the perfect blueness of Ollie's eyes!

Portland how I love thee!

Zac and I love a little bit of travel.  We really do.  It's one of our most favorite things.  The sad part is, we are poor.  I know, I know, people that are poor should NOT be traveling, but we do.  The catch is, we either don't go far, or we go only places where we have friends to stay with.  This is the case for our next vacation.  We leave next Wednesday and get to stay in Portland until Sunday. Zac's best friend from undergrad is there and my best friend from chiropractic school is there.  Also, one of my very best friends lives in California, so she came up too.   This all works out in our favor and, in fact, makes for a really nice vacation spot if I do say so myself.  We went there last year for my 25th birthday, which you can read more about here, and in the few posts before and after it.

We had a blast last year.  I often laughed til i cried....which I like to do.  Chris, Lauren and Zac are three of the funniest people I know.  Carrie and Ernie (Zac's pals) are also hilarious and if Zac hadn't gotten to them first, I would have picked them for friends myself.  Over the course of our few days there we had many an adventure.  We started with Chris, Lauren, Zac and I taking a merry little jaunt in the woods.

Chris' parents lived like 1/4 mile from a beautiful state park....lucky ducks.

Lauren and I loved it!

The next day we met Zac, Carrie, and Ernie at the market and got some great food from a whole heck of a lot of cart vendors.  Zac still talks about the perogis he got there.

Isn't my husband a handsome man?

For those of you that know Zac personally, you won't be shocked to hear that after the market he was hungry and we headed for some oysters with Carrie and Erndog.

After a bit more wandering, I stopped and got my tatoo.
(A reminder from my little sister's favorite verse to "walk by faith, not by sight")

The next day Ernie hauled Zac and I to Cannon Beach.  I gotta admit, the coast is absolutely beautiful.

The Zacman and his burly beard.

Zac hunting starfish for me cause I just had to know what it felt like.  This is a smile of his that lets me know he may just throw a starfish at me to see me yell and about fall off a rock.

So that's just a little bit of what I've got to look forward to.  I can't wait.  I am excited to get away from it all for a bit.  To not worry about the three presentations I've got in the two weeks after we get back.  To not worry about what the heck I'm gonna talk about for 20 minutes when I do a local radio show (that's right, they want me on the radio, it may get crazy).  To not have to sand or paint or stain furniture.  To not do laundry, or pay bills, or scrub toilets.  I will miss my family and the kiddos.  It seems like I miss them sooner and sooner anymore.  But that's ok, cause I'll have Zacman to hug on.  Until next Wednesday, lets all pray for unseasonably warm and dry weather in Portland!

Dang it!

Zac heard back about the job opportunity I blogged about here.  Not the news we wanted I'm afraid.  They ended up giving the job to someone else.  It was especially disappointing because the opening line on the "you didn't get the job call" was "You definately gave the best interview but...."  and that super sucks.  It sucks not to get a job that you want, and then to know that you were the best for the job and still didn't get it well that just plain hurts your feelings.  And your wife's feelings.  It turns out there was a guy working in their store already that applied, and they gave the job to him.  This, of course, tells me multiple things, starting with the fact that they already had decided before the interview who the job was going to and it was simply a waste of time for Zacman.  I'm more mad than sad now, but I think that's part of the 5 steps of the grieving process right?  I'm gonna skip right over bargaining and move into acceptance.  Well...I may stay mad for a little bit yet.  It's the Fox in me, we like to hold a grudge for a bit.  So now we wait again, for another opportunity.  Hopefully the next one will work out the way we want it.  In the meantime, thanks for all your prayers and support!
